![]() Depending on how much you are willing to spend, you can either get a boat for yourself or join groups of tourists that get arranged by the pousadas. Los Roques is a beautifull archipelogo (national park), you stay in an island where a small village is located, and during the day you have to take boats to different islands. We tried to question, but after being mistreated and yelled at by the hot-bloded italian man, eventually paid the fee. We were then surprised when the owner of the pousada came with the check, charging a fee for opening the bottle (the fee was far more expensive than our wine!). We had asked the waiters if we could bring our own bottle of wine, and they said OK (without mentioning that there would be any charge). For instance, he ruined one of our dinners. The problem is that the owner is always there trying to rip off the guests to the last dollar. The pousada is nice (although maybe not among the best in town), staff is helpful and attentive, and the food (dinner) is a pro. Check out the nearby bar Bora La Mar which has prime position for a sundowner - their pina coladas were amazing.… We headed off on a boat with a cool box full of beers, water and a packed lunch which was ok - the only slight downer about the whole experience was the rather dry sandwich! All in all this was a magnificent place to stay and I'm just gutted we didn't have longer there. The breakfast the next morning was great with fresh croissants and a Venezuelan cooked breakfast to order. The dinner in the evening was a four course affair and was sensational, making great use of fresh seafood (ceviche, lobster pasta and lovely red snapper with veggies), the wine flowed and of course the coffee was good (this posada being run by Italians!). ![]() The posada has wifi which we were able to use whilst sitting on the verandah having a few sundowners (red wine and rum and coke seemed to be on the house). There were some nice touches in the room including an electronic mosquito repeller with replacement cartridges. The room was nice, with both a fan and air-conditioning and the bathroom was a good size with a nice shower. The posada itself is beautifully designed - open, airy, tastefully decorated and with a lovely rooftop terrace. We were in luck and were treated to a wonderful night and day and very well looked after by Mimo, angelo and their staff. We had wandered past the posada one night and walked in to have quick look around and ask if they had any room. My girlfriend and I stayed at Acuarela earlier this week after extending our stay in Los Roques by a day and moving from the rubbish LTA posada (will review elsewhere).
